Sunset and low tide coincide twice a month. The forecast called for partly cloudy skies that November afternoon, so I took a chance, rented a car, and drove seventy-five miles to my favorite low tide location on the Flats.
I’m so glad I made the effort. When I returned the following summer, the previous winter’s storms had totally changed the scene: the sand ripples, the reflecting pool and the beach grass had disappeared, replaced by mounds of sand. This was shot just a few minutes later than "Tranquil Brewster Flats at Sunset, Cape Cod No.1"
