In late April, the magnolia trees along the mile-long north side of Commonwealth Avenue blossom forth in an incredible display. They last only about a week, sometimes less, if the spring weather doesn’t cooperate. For me, the 19th century houses that line the Avenue behind the trees lend a timeless quality to the scene.
